Since joining the Canadian music scene in 2014, Justin has ventured into a variety of different scenes and genres. Starting out with producing Vancouver based Pop-Punk group Chase Your Words, the bands prior success quickly helped him make a name for himself on a national scale. Deciding to start his own musical journey, he stayed true to his Pop-Punk/Rock roots and expanded his online reach by forming Woke Up Waiting (later to be Harbourside) which reached friends and fans all over the world through various cover videos and a 6-track EP. Shorty after that, members of Woke Up Waiting joined forces and stepped in as supporting members for Chase Your Words. Since departing Pop-Rock group Chase Your Words, Mattock has recently started pursuing a path down the solo direction pulling in Pop, Country and Alternative elements. Past associations include Instrumental Music and Lost Music Collective.
Hailing from Vancouver, Canada, Justin has had an ear for music since the age of 5. He first picked up a guitar at 7 after being introduced to classic rock and has been going ever since. Early inspirations include icons such as ACDC, Metallica, Avenged Sevenfold, Green Day and many other rock legends. As he grew, Pop-Punk came into the spotlight in his teenage years and helped shape the musician he is today. Bands like All Time Low, Blink-182, Simple Plan and Sum 41 pushed him into pursuing the band life, giving him a small taste of success through joining various local groups. Since then, he has recently taken a turn to Singer/Songwriter music with a touch of Country, pulling inspiration from artists like Dan & Shay, Thomas Rhett, and Sam Hunt.
In the midst of his journey, he took a side step and got into the world of producing and engineering. Being self taught for 4 years he chose to pursue the art seriously and attended the Nimbus School of Recording Arts in Vancouver, BC, where he would learn under the likes of Garth Richardson, Bob Ezrin, and many more known names in the industry. Since graduating, Justin has been producing his own music, solo artists, and worked with multiple bands to help bring their ideas to life.
