'SEVENTEEN' new single by Justin Mattock

OUT JANUARY 6TH

Produced in Vancouver, BC by Dan Botch and Garrett Ward of The Renaissance, "Seventeen" is an exciting step forward in the career of an artist who has so much to offer. For fans of Morgan Wallen, Luke Combs, Thomas Rhett, Russell Dickerson, and Dan & Shay, "Seventeen" is a truly spontaneous and dynamic piece of music, giving the audience great insight into Justin's creative vision. The crisp modern production sound entails everything you’d want in country song, notably a memorable banjo line straight into a catchy, powerful guitar-led instrumental. The lyrics paint a story that brings back many to those high school nights and meeting that first young love. The bright and hopeful instrumental creates a contrast in the "cry because it's over" lyrics with a beauitful "smile because it happened" feel.

Lyrics

Summertime back in ‘95

Not a single clue what we’d get into

Was a bonfire night under the stars

With every boys hopes just a little too high

Sunday sundress, dangerous eyes

And I knew then that she’d be mine

I lost myself at that first smile

We poured a few drinks and we stayed for a while

We never knew all that we’d give

For one more night

Since the day we left it all behind

You lost your way back to my arms

The memories of Seventeen

You wore that plastic ring I bought

When we danced out back on the railroad tracks

The memories of Seventeen

The way we felt that midnight high

I’ve searched the country came up dry

Nobody else compares at all

You got me mixed up and feelin’ like I’m sedated

And your loves so contagious

Every sip a little more courageous

And we’ve waited

So don’t overthink it now

We never knew all that we’d give

For one more night

Since the day we left it all behind

You lost your way back to my arms

The memories of Seventeen

You wore that plastic ring I bought

When we danced out back on the railroad tracks

The memories of Seventeen

Time flew by so much has changed

But those blue eyes still stayed the same

The memories of Seventeen

You wore that plastic ring I bought

When we danced out back on the railroad tracks

The memories of Seventeen

The memories of Seventeen

Artist bio for release

Justin Mattock is a Canadian Pop-Country artist with bright, heartfelt vocals and lyrics sung over nostalgic, feel-good instrumentation. Comparable to a range of artists from Thomas Rhett to John Mayer, he strays away from genre-specific writing in his music by pulling in feelings and sounds from many different styles. The music he writes comes from personal and others life experiences making each song relatable in one way or another. Inspired by the likes of Morgan Wallen, Dan & Shay, Brett Eldredge and many others, he crafts his songs with care and adds a passionate personal touch to each one. Being in previous Pop-Rock bands Fighting for Ithaca, Woke up Waiting and Chase Your Words, Justin has had the opportunity to share the stage and work along side some of the largest names in the genre with hopes to do the same in his new journey as a country artist. Coming off his latest release "First Time", Mattock has raised the bar yet again with his nostalgic "Seventeen".
